3rd way to save money on your move
Ignore the "I might need it someday" syndrome.
Dont move the riding mower to an apartment. Part with tools you wont use. And remember, junk is junk - you dont need a furnished attic.

2nd way to save money on your move
Color-coordinate your move.
If the sofa just won't match, don't move it. often you can replace appliances or furniture more cost effectively than you can move or reupholster them.

1st way to save money on your move
The floor plan.
If possible, get a floor plan of your future residence, or make one to scale on graph paper. Try to fit your furniture in the mock up. If it wont fit on paper, it won't fit in your new home. This means you can donate or sell your furniture that will not fit. This is just the first way to save money when you move.

Get educated about your move
When the time comes to choose a mover remember to ask key questions. Do they have a MC#, DOT#, are they fully licensed and insured? Educating yourself before you move will help you choose the right mover. Visit sites like Angie's List and The BBB to compare companies.
